A solemn mood characterized the valedictory send off for the late Councilor Adrean Chilubwa of Ntanda ward.

Mr.  Chilubwa who was elected as ward councilor for Ntanda in 2011 passed on in the early hours of Wednesday 20th November 2024.

Delivering his valedictory speech, Mpongwe Council Chairperson Mr. Emmanuel Masanga described Councilor Chilubwa as a man who was committed to his Civic duty and always strived to present the interest of his people.

“The man we are bidding farewell to was more than just an elected councilor to most of us. councilor Chilubwa was a team player, a man dedicated and committed to his duty as a civic leader. He came to this Council and represented the good people of Ntanda with passion and determination. His death is a huge blow to us all,” said the Chairperson

MR Masanga paid tribute to the late councilor for his commitment to promoting development in Mpongwe and Ntanda in particular.

He said the late councilor Chilubwa pushed for the construction and completion of a 1×3 classroom and further the supply of desks to the same school.

The Chairperson further stated that the cold hand of death has robbed the council of brother, colleague, friend, leader, advisor and counselor. Councilor Chilubwa was elected councilor for ntanda ward in 2021 under the united party for national development ticket. He served as committee member for the Health and Social Services committee from 2021 to 2023. In 2023 he was elected as Chairperson for the Health and Social Services committee the position he held until his death. He diligently served as Health and Social Services Chairperson.

The valedictory service was attended by among others the Provincial UPND leadership led by the Vice Chairperson, the District Commissioner, the clergy, former Members of Parliament for Mpongwe.

The body has since transported to Choma for Burial in Mbabala Constituency.
