Mpongwe Town Council has adopted the proposed Sixty Eight Million Three Hundred And Fifty Five Thousand, Eight Hundred and Nine Kwacha  (K68,355,809)  as revenue and expenditure  budget estimates for the year 2024.

The 2024 revenue and expenditure estimates budget adopted during a Special Council sitting now stands at K68,355,809 represents an upward adjustment of 37% from last year’s budget which stood at Forty-Nine Million Seven Hundred Thousand Kwacha (K49,700,000) only.

The increase in the 2024 budget has been mainly attributed to the increase in the Constituency Development fund allocation which now stands at Thirty Million Six Hundred Thirty five thousand,six hundred and forty one Kwacha (K30,635,641). The Local Authority further expects to receive funding amounting to Three million Seven hundred and Twenty Thousand Kwacha (K3,720,00) from the World Bank for implementation of Capital projects.

The 2024 budget which is spread across Fifteen (15) programs will be financed through Equalization fund, Constituency Development fund (CDF), locally generated resources and funding from World Bank. Council is expected to raise  K13, 200,000 from locally  generated funds, while Constituency Development Fund will account for K30, 635,641 and equalization fund will bring in K10, 523,340

The 2024 budget has been prepared in collaboration with devolved departments.

The adopted budget is subject to approval by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
